Honoring Our Volunteers
In 2003, we recruited and trained Tammy Fowler to volunteer for BCS. Tammy was a special education teacher who very quickly became an extremely engaged volunteer who worked with our clients, helped with fundraising, and did just about anything we needed her to do. Not long after she started working with us, Tammy passed away as the result of injuries from a car accident. In her honor, we established the Tammy Fowler Memorial Volunteer Spirit Award, an annual award given to the one or two volunteers who best exemplify Tammy’s volunteering style and enthusiasm.
